Password protection prompts for a username and password to access a folder within the site from the web. When password protecting a folder, there are a few things to remember. Protecting a folder will protect all folders within that folder. Also, create users who can access the protected directory. Password protected directory can be given any name, no matter what the actual directory is called.
Navigate to the Password Protect Directories under the Security section by logging into cpanel. A list of the directories in the domain account will appear. Select the directory that should have limited access. In the new page, create a username and a password for the user that should have access to the folder.Select a name that will appear in the login screen and click on the Save button to activate the protection.
